The mission of the Astor Neighborhood Association is to maintain the integrity, vitality, and diversity of the Astor community through the protection and preservation of its history, neighborhoods, and architecture.
This self-guided walking tour will take you through the Historic Astor Neighborhood to over 30 homes with stories of the past history of one of the oldest neighborhoods in the state. In February of 1980, the Astor Historic District officially came into being and was placed in the National Register of Historic Places. As such, it was designated as a neighborhood worthy of recognition and preservation. Many GB Packer Players resided here.
Walk through and take in the history and architecture of homes that are over 130 years old and with our efforts will remain for and other 100 years. Start at the site of the Underground Railroad or jump on anywhere. But first, listen to our podcast "Plaster and Patina" for a walk down memory lane.
